What is the Plei App?

Plei was created by people just like you. We love to play ⚽ #TheBeautifulGame and wanted everyone else to be able to play anytime they wanted. Click the video below to learn more:

We organize pickup soccer games organized by skill level and gender. We connect you with other people who live near you who want to play ⚽ just like you. Think of us as the Uber of soccer. You simply browse our app for games that are convenient to your location and day/time you want to play, swipe to join, and we take care of the rest of the details.

Our games take place at soccer facilities in your neighborhood. Most of our are games are played on artificial turf fields. We offer games that range from 4v4 to 11v11.

How do I know if a game is confirmed?

We confirm games as early as 12 hours before game time if we have enough players registered to the game. If we ever have to cancel a game, we let you know with at least 1 hours notice. We also closely monitor the games, and if we see we can combine game lists with another game to get the game confirmed, we coordinate that with the players.

One of the best things about our app is that we do not charge you to register to a game. We only charge you if a game is actually confirmed and happening. That way you never have to pay for a game that never happens.

We will always update you by text message as to the status of the game. If you receive a game confirmation text it means the game is confirmed.

Additionally in the description of every event we write the minimum amount of players needed for a game to confirm. Once we reach the minimum amount of players, the game is confirmed.

Generally, If a game is 7v7, we also can play 6v6. If a game is 6v6, we also play 5v5, Etc.

How do payments work?

Great Question!

Every game usually costs anywhere between $7 – $12 per player depending on the game. This helps us cover the cost to rent the field.

With Plei you must have a card on file to register for a game. This ensures you are truly committed to playing the game you sign up for. At the moment, we can not accept any other form of payment besides card directly payment on the app.

We do not charge you the moment you join a game. Instead, we process everyone’s payment about 2 hours before game time, only if there are enough players in the game for the game to be confirmed.

If there are not enough players in the game, then we simply cancel the game without charging anyone anything.

At Plei security is one of our main priorities. We are a technology company, after all.

Our payment processor partners over at Braintree / PayPal ensure your payments are securely processed with Plei.

What is Plei's cancelation policy?

In the rare event that a game gets cancelled, we do not charge you. We only charge for games games that get confirmed.

But if a game does confirm and you need to cancel here is our cancelation policy which is very fair and ensures the Integrity of the games:

If you cancel with more than 5 hours notice, you will not be charged.
If you cancel with less than 5 hours notice and more than 3 hours notice, you will be charged and we will give you a game credit for a future game only if we are able to find a replacement for you.
If you cancel with less than 3 hours notice, there is no refund. No exceptions.

Do people show up to the games?

Great question!

We only confirm games that meet the minimum criteria for the field we are playing on. We require for everyone to have a working card on file to join a game. Once a game is confirmed we process everyone’s payment.

Since everyone pays before the game starts, you can be sure that the players will actually show up to the game. After all, why would anyone pay for a game they dont plan to go to?

Can I invite friends to the games?

You have two options to invite friends to the games:

You can tell your friends to download the app by searching ‘Plei’ in their app store so they can register to themselves.
You can add guests to your reservation during the signup process, or after you sign up by clicking ‘update status’ on the game you plan to attend.

What kind of gear do I need?

You can wear your normal soccer gear to the games. No specific colors or uniforms necessary, the facilities provide bibs so that we can easily separate the teams.

Unless specified, all of our games are played on Turf fields. Please wear turf shoes, not cleats. Sneakers are fine too.

Shin guards are optional.

Water and a hand towel is always a smart play.

How do the games work?

Behind the scenes, we organize all aspects of the game for you. We communicate with every player who joins a game and coordinate all of the details so that it’s easy for you to know what to do when you arrive. We will always text you to let you know whether a game is confirmed or cancelled. If you’re ever in doubt, please us the messaging feature in the app to communicate with us or text us to 305.800.7534

Most of our games usually last between 60 – 90 minutes and have a total of 2 or 3 teams that participate. Our algorithm intelligently organizes the teams on the app so that you don’t have to worry about which team you are on when you arrive at the game. If you are bringing guests, you will be placed on the same team as your guest. If you have any friends that are part of the game, you can easily request to be on the same team as your friends.

Our game schedule is thoughtfully curated so that the games are likely to actually fill up with players. We offer a wide range of game types and levels. So whether you’re looking for a fun low-pressure game or an intense high-level match, we’ve got you covered.

One important thing to note is that the games dont usually fill up until about 2 or 3 hours before game time. If you ever have any hesitation about joining a game, it’s better to take a chance and join the game since we dont charge anyone for a game that does not confirm.

How do I know which game to choose?

We offer a wide range of games from beginners games, friendly, to High-Level intense matches. You can tell which kind of game it is by the title and by reading the game details.

If you are looking for a more low pressure type of game, we recommend going with one of our friendly games.

If you are looking for an intense ⚽ match, our High-Level games are the choice for you.

How likely are games to fill up?

At Plei we work diligently to create a curated game schedule. In general, most games you see on the app fill up and confirm, but of course sometimes games do not fill up with enough players or need to be cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. When that happens, we work with the players to try and get them in another game on the app thats convenient for them. We never charge anyone for a game that is not confirmed.

Who plays goalie?

All players alternate the goalie position every 2 goals or 10 minutes.

Of course, if someone wants to play all time goalie, they can volunteer for that position.

How do I refresh the app?

To refresh the app, simply pull down on the game feed and the loading sign will appear to indicate that all the games, players, and teams are updating.

What happens if it rains?

In short, we play in the rain!

If it is raining for several hours before game time, we usually cancel the game due to field conditions. But if the rain has been going on for less than 1 hour, the game is still confirmed.

Our outdoor games are played on Turf fields at professional facilities that have excellent drainage systems in place. And of course our indoor games are protected from the rain so the field conditions are never an issue.
