Overview:

On March 1, 2020, we announced Plei’s entrance into its third market, Orlando, FL! 🎢

We were so excited to finally welcome Central Florida to our family, but as luck would have it, the pandemic happened. We waited patiently (and we know our Orlando ballers were waiting patiently too) until finally in January 2021, we relaunched! 🔥

Beyond our partnerships with private pickup facilities, we also work to have a presence at the fields found at local public parks! Ward Park is one of those. As part of our ongoing blog series, we will be highlighting all of our partner fields in every region where Plei has touched down. 🛬

Keep reading to learn more about all things Ward Park before you head out to play. 👇

The city said it, not us: this park is a dream destination for any athlete. 💤

We’re not going to sit here and act like we disagree, though.

With over 66 acres to its name and room for a number of different sports, Ward Park establishes itself as one of the most diverse public athletic complexes in the beautiful city of Winter Park. 🦚

From soccer, baseball, football and rugby to track, swimming, tennis and lacrosse; you can do it all here.

The beautiful game takes up a significant chunk of the acres found at Ward Park, so let’s start there. ⏬

A grand total of five (5) expansive soccer fields are available at Ward Park, with four of them using natural grass. 🌿

Head over to the southeast end of Ward Park, and you’ll be welcomed by a state-of-the-art synthetic turf field known as the Showalter East Field 1, large enough to host 11v11 games. Easily the best-looking soccer pitch throughout Ward Park, it sets the stage for some of Winter Park’s finest full-field footy. ⚽

Luckily for you, this is precisely where Plei will be hosting our pickup games. Sign-ups are available now. 📲

Moving on, America’s favorite pastime takes up its fair share of space as well. Ward Park is home to ten (10) baseball/softball fields, officially known as the Winter Park Babe Ruth Fields. These fields come in varying sizes to accommodate different age groups.

All this and we haven’t even got to the main event of Ward Park: the Showalter East Field 2, more simply known as the Showalter Field or the Showalter Stadium. Primarily equipped for high school football, this field is circled by a full-length track. 🏟️

And it wouldn’t be classified as a stadium if not for the bleachers installed beyond either long end of the track. Those high school spirit night sporting events must be impressive.

Completing Ward Park’s long list of amenities are the inclusion of basketball, tennis & pickleball courts, fitness & bike trails, an asphalt walking path, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, concession buildings and a disabled-accessible playground. 📃

See why it’s an athlete’s dream park now? 😉
