Back in July 2021, the Plei App continued its expansion efforts, stepping foot for the first time in our 6th market, the DMV. 🦅 Since June 2024, we have been hosting pickup games at The Fields at RFK Campus, and we are looking forward to continuing doing so for many years to come. As part of our ongoing blog series, we will be highlighting all of our partner facilities in every region where Plei has touched down. 🛬
In the former home of MLS side DC United, the District has built a 27-acres outdoor paradise for sports lovers from the nation’s capital. 🦅
Built on the former parking lot of a now-defunct RFK Stadium, The Fields at RFK Campus offers synthetic turf fields with plenty of community amenities to fall in love with! 😍
Before we go over the amazing features offered at this facility, we must first give you all the footy info that’s guaranteed to make this field your new go-to spot to play in DC. 🗺️
The Fields at RFK Campus have three (3) state-of-the-art footy pitches that are perfect for thrilling 11v11 pickup! ⚽️
Whether you’re a competitive player or you just like to play for fun, these picturesque fields provide an ideal setting to showcase your skills and passion for the beautiful game. 🤩
Even though the footy pitches at this complex are the best parts of this facility (we’re biased obviously 😉), there are plenty of other activities to enjoy here that will keep you coming back often!
Built with the goal of bringing the community of DC together, The Fields at RFK Campus offers turf fields with layouts to accommodate soccer, kickball, lacrosse, baseball, softball and more, making it easier to switch things up whenever you want! ⚾️
This facility also has 6,000 square feet dedicated to a celebration pavilion for events, public restrooms, a scenic bike path, a playground and picnic space. 🧺
Excited to go already? You’ll be even more thrilled to know that the complex has 300 parking spaces, so you’ll always have access to this gem of a park. 🚗
Beyond playing pickup here, the Fields at RFK Campus are equipped for amateur sports programs, leagues and tournaments. The facility even has the annual RFK Day of Play held here–a day-long event where kids and adults get the opportunity to grow their love for sports by learning and competing. 🏆
One year, Manchester United and DC United legend Wayne Rooney even made an appearance (see below)!

The fun times you can have here aren’t even limited to the 27-acres of The Fields at RFK Campus, either. These fields are just part of the District’s 190-acre reimagination plan for the RFK complex. 🏗️
You can attend concerts and festivals at the 80-acres Festival Grounds at RFK Campus, just south of where you’ll play pickup games. There’s a Skate Park at RFK Campus just southwest of the fields. 🏟️🛹
And if you enjoy immersing yourself in nature, Kingman and Heritage Island Park is just north of the footy pitches. No matter what you’re into, the Campus at RFK has got something for you. 🌳🛶
