Overview:

On March 1, 2020, we announced Plei’s entrance into its third market, Orlando, FL! 🎢

We were so excited to finally welcome Central Florida to our family, but as luck would have it, the pandemic happened. We waited patiently (and we know our Orlando ballers were waiting patiently too) until finally in January 2021, we relaunched! 🔥

Beyond our partnerships with private pickup facilities, we also work to have a presence at the fields found at local public parks! Sylvan Lake Park is one of those. As part of our ongoing blog series, we will be highlighting all of our partner fields in every region where Plei has touched down. 🛬

Named after the lake that sits directly east, this neighborhood park attracts the attention of local athletes and nature lovers alike. 🤝

The appeal of Sylvan Lake Park in Sanford, FL is satisfyingly spread out across all that the park has to offer, but perhaps none more prominent than the six (yes, six) soccer fields available here. At least in our books, anyway.

Full-field, outdoor footy on good ol’ natural grass is the main attraction of Sylvan Lake Park when it comes to the beautiful game, and we’re absolutely not complaining. Every pitch is well-maintained by Seminole County throughout the year, which keeps ballers coming through every day to show off their tekkers.

Although each pitch is lined for 11v11, you can always move the goals in a bit closer in case you don’t have quite a large enough group.

Plei can help guarantee that you will, though. Download the app from the App Store or Google Play, type “Sylvan Lake Park” in the search bar within the app and sign up for some 11-a-side pickup today. 📲

Here’s a fun fact about these fields: they are used by youth and professional players alike, namely by the Orlando Pride in the NWSL. If you get lucky, you can find them holding training sessions here.

The beautiful game is the heart of this northwest Seminole County park, but tennis & racquetball also hold a solid presence. You can find a total of nine (9) courts for the aforementioned sports available at Sylvan Lake Park.

We mentioned this park being a prime destination for nature lovers as well, and we weren’t joking. Passive recreation is huge at Sylvan Lake Park thanks to pedestrian paths that pass through the bundles of groves here. The road - which can be taken by car as well - splits at a certain point, but either direction will take you all the way down to Sylvan Lake, where you can enjoy some memorable vistas.

A fishing dock is available at the very end if you take the southeast road, and a kayak/canoe launch can be found by making a left turn at the split.

Other passive amenities at Sylvan Lake Park include picnic areas, a picnic pavilion, fitness equipment and a playground.
