Late August 2024 ended up being quite special for us as we arrived in a crucial region to continue our takeover of the New England pickup soccer scene: Hartford-Springfield! 🎓 This move subsequently increased the number of U.S. states that Plei has arrived in to an incredible 20! 🙌
The first facility we partnered with in the region was Farmington Sports Arena! As part of our ongoing blog series, we will be highlighting all of our partner facilities in every region where Plei has touched down. 🛬
Since then, we have also begun hosting games at Sports World in Windsor! Keep reading to learn more about them before you head out to play. 👇
That’s much to do with what you see above: a large weather-proof dome belonging to a facility known as Sports World. Located in East Windsor, this venue doesn’t deceive as far as their name is concerned; here you can enjoy spaces for virtually any sport you can imagine.
As long as it can be played on turf, of course.
There are three different areas to cover throughout this entire site, but we’ll start with the dome, officially known as the sports bubble. Inside you’ll find a sprawling synthetic turf space, which divides into three (3) separate fields, each measuring 200 by 100 feet. If you’re curious about the height, the dome ceiling reaches as high as 60 feet.
For pickup footy, these pitches can accommodate anything from 7v7 to 9v9, so you have some breathing room for those no-shows. In case your group ends up being much bigger, no need to have people waiting on the sidelines. The entire space can be turned into one full-size pitch that measures 320 by 200 feet, allowing for classic 11-a-side action.
All things considered, this dome is essentially an indoor stadium of sorts, just without the spectator stands.
On those days where the weather isn’t acting up, feel free to ditch the bubble in exchange for some natural air in the outdoor fields found at Sports World. Out here, you’ll find not one, not two, not three but a grand total of four (4) full-size outdoor fields.
If you elect to play out here, just keep in mind that these spaces feature natural grass, so be sure to swap out your turf boots for some FGs if you have them.
With everything combined, Sports World offers up five (5) different athletic fields, each of them equipped for pretty much any other grass sport you can think of, including field hockey, baseball, football and lacrosse.
A final amenity that is really a cherry on top to everything we’ve already mentioned is the facility’s main building, located immediately in front of the dome. In here, you’ll find a conference room with WiFi, a 50-inch flat screen TV, a full concessions area, as well as the restrooms.
All this establishes Sports World as not only a place to enjoy your favorite sport, but also to hang out or even host/attend an event, whether it be a birthday party or some sort of community gathering.
We won’t stop you from spending hours here after you’re done balling out. Just make sure not to accidentally stay overnight.
