Last year, Plei expanded into our 5th City, Dallas, Texas. 🤠
Another one of the pickup facilities that we have partnered with in the region is Cubillo Soccer Center! As part of our ongoing blog series, we will be highlighting all of our partner facilities in every region where Plei has touched down. 🛬
Founded by two men with a deeply-rooted love for the beautiful game, Cubillo Soccer Center is one of those humble facilities that locals discover and just keep coming back to. 🥰
With two (2) enclosed fields for 6v6 and 5v5 play placed parallel to each other in a sort of warehouse setting, Cubillo may not seem like much upon first glance. There’s nothing that particularly stands out about the venue. No artwork, no unique set up or fancy technology, no out of the ordinary amenities. ❌
After all, those are all bonuses, aren’t they? 🤔
What makes a soccer facility great isn’t what all they can offer that’s pleasing to the eye. The true value of a place to play soccer is found in the quality of the games that take place as well as the history behind the venue itself. ✍️
Not only will you be playing competitive pickup games on high-quality fields that are well-maintained throughout the year, you’ll also be playing somewhere that would not even exist had it not been for a true love for the game by founders Jose Antonio Hernandez and Pedro “El Halcon” Cubillo. ❤️
Hernandez, principal founder and president of Cubillo Soccer Center, initially fell for the game as a child when he used to play in the streets. As he grew older, this infatuation for the sport only multiplied, leading to a lightbulb moment to open an indoor facility in Dallas. 💡
In 2018, he met Cubillo, who formerly played as a goalkeeper for the Costa Rican national team, and they quickly developed a close friendship. Together, they began working towards this idea to open their very own venue, bringing together a team of investors to turn it into a reality. 💯
Eventually, it came to be, and as a tribute to “El Halcon”, who years prior was hospitalized with bone cancer, the facility was named after him. Today, Cubillo is the official trainer of the indoor soccer venue and has since been dedicating his time to coaching young Dallas ballers. 🙌
That being said, Cubillo Soccer Center offers everything from league play, tournaments and special events to field rentals, clinics, camps, personal training and birthday parties. The facility is equipped with a neat lounge area with chairs, coffee tables, plant decor and TVs, so you can chill with family and friends before or after your game. 🪑📺
Bleachers are available facing both fields, so spectators can comfortably catch the ongoing action. Meanwhile, parking is available right outside the facility. It’s fairly limited, so be sure to arrive early to secure a spot. 🚗
