Due to the unique design and development of Romeoville Athletic & Event Center, the Village of Romeoville won the Outstanding Facility and Park award from the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA)! With the top-quality facilities that you’ll find here, there’s no secret as to why they were chosen.
And speaking of high-quality amenities, Romeoville Athletic & Event Center boasts one (1) state-of-the-art indoor footy pitch that is perfect for thrilling 11v11 fixtures. With various lining present on the turf, this pitch can also be divided in half for 8v8s, or quartered for 6v6 matchups! ⚽
In addition to playing pickup footy here, players have the chance to win trophies while kicking it at this field. If you’re a soccer parent looking for an indoor league for your kids, Chicagoland Indoor Soccer hosts leagues at this facility for youth players for U8 to high school level. Looking for more youth team options? Both Chicago Inter Soccer Club and Thunder Soccer Club play games at Romeoville Athletic & Event Center.
The full-length turf field at Romeoville Athletic & Event Center isn’t the only thing that’s versatile about this space. From November to March is known as turf season. March to October is where the turf pitch overgoes a major transformation. Wood panels are placed together to form hard courts for multi-purpose use. 👷
In addition to the turf field that transforms for many months out of the year, there are two additional courts that are perfect for basketball. On each court you can fit ten (10) high school regulated courts, with portable hoops available for the installed courts. 🏀
With all this top-quality court space available, it comes as no surprise that Romeoville Athletic & Event Center is this community’s go-to destination for basketball clinics, travel teams and tournaments. Each court is available for rent, and the center has experienced basketball coaches that offer personal training options if you’re trying to take your game to the next level.
Basketball isn’t the only sport getting love at the Romeoville Athletic & Event Center. Each gymnasium can also fit six (6) full size volleyball courts in these spaces, as well. The courts are so nice, they serve as the home of both Belusa United Volleyball Club and Empower Volleyball, two local youth club volleyball teams.
Given the growing popularity in racquet sports, this facility has begun offering Open Gym Pickleball sessions in the gymnasiums. Grab a paddle, a ball and some friends, and enjoy playing a fun game in this climate controlled rec center. Don’t forget to bring water and some comfy tennis shoes, too! 🏸
With such a versatile space, you can rent Romeoville Athletic & Event Center for just about any sport. This facility is also known for hosting football, baseball and lacrosse in addition to the ones we’ve already mentioned. Priding itself on how adaptable its space is, Romeoville Athletic & Event Center is also an incredible spot for hosting birthdays, expos and large events! Previously, they have hosted sneaker conventions, dog shows, banquets, MMA fights, and more. They have two event spaces on offer: one (1) 40,000 sq ft space and one (1) 17,000 sq ft room, both of which have high ceilings and no columns. 🎉
It’s important to note that Romeoville Athletic & Event Center was developed as part of a revitalization project to enhance downtown Romeoville with more vibrant and active community space. Beyond the awards, this rec center plays a vital role in the lives of local youth by hosting Opportunity Matters, a mentorship group for multicultural youth.
This program is all about empowering diverse young leaders to break down barriers and build a brighter, more inclusive future. Through fun mentorships, hands-on learning, and career training, they’re shaping the next generation of leaders in Romeoville. These future leaders are ready to “CREATE THE CHANGE” and inspire a world where everyone thrives together! 🗣️
