Back in March 2022, Plei expanded to its eighth market, Charlotte, North Carolina. 👑
We began by partnering with veteran facility Creative Player Sports, and hosted our first game there on April 8, 2022! 📆
Beyond our partnerships with private pickup facilities, we also work to have a presence at the fields found at local public parks! Revolution Park is one of those. As part of our ongoing blog series, we will be highlighting all of our partner fields in every region where Plei has touched down. 🛬

Situated in the neighborhood that shares its name, Revolution Park is just three miles southwest of Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. This park is approximately 210 acres, and features a lovely balance of sports fields and natural greenery.
Let’s dive straight into the footy details, like a Virgil Van Dijk slide tackle. After all, that’s what you came here for, right? 😅Revolution Park features one (1) outdoor, multi-purpose synthetic turf field that’s big enough for full-size 11v11 matches.
With overhead lights surrounding the pitch, you can ball out here day and night. One amazing aspect of note, there are plenty of full-sized goals on this field, too. So, if there are other people using the fields, you’ll always have a goal to practice on. Playing pickup or kicking around can get pretty tiring, but you’ll be happy to know that there are bleacher seats on both sides of this picturesque pitch! ⚽
If you’re also seeking a space to partake in America’s favorite pastime, across the parking lot from the turf field you’ll find three (3) diamond baseball fields. Not feeling baseball or softball? It’s also a sweet spot to play an exciting game of kickball too!
The most extensive part of Revolution Park is home to its golf course. Originally an 18-hole course, this historic public golf course downsized to a 9-hole course due to highway construction projects. This golfer’s paradise also includes a driving range and practice greens so you can tighten up your technique for the main course. 🏌️
If you’re looking to share your love for golf with your young’uns, Revolution Park offers a First Tee of Greater Charlotte program, which provides the youth with a combination of golf fundamentals and life skills.
Did you know you could purchase golf gear at Revolution Park, too? Just across the street from the footy pitch, on Remount Rd, you’ll find the Revolution Park Sports Academy. This is where you’ll not only find a golf pro shop, but also the most convenient parking lot to access the golf course.
More than just a store, Revolution Park Sports Academy has a fitness center featuring both strength and cardio equipment. This space also has a professional boxing ring beside the gym, along with punching bags. Be sure to check out the Activity Search page to sign up for boxing and fitness classes at Revolution Park Sports Academy! As an essential part of the entire community, this rec center also offers programming for local youth and seniors. 🏠
If taking in nature and connecting with yourself is something you enjoy doing, you’ll be happy to know there are walking trails through the park. Enjoy the paved walking paths and biking trails that curve through Revolution Park and connect to Irwin Creek Greenway.
If you’re from Charlotte or have lived there for many years, chances are you already know how great Irwin Creek Greenway is. If you’re unfamiliar, Irwin Creek Greenway is a green space in Mecklenburg county that offers pedestrian passage connecting recreation and green spaces for residents of Charlotte! 🌲
With a little something for everyone, Revolution Park has playgrounds for kids to enjoy. On the other side of the tree line from the footy pitch, you’ll find a playground equipped with swings and a climbing course. Conveniently located next to tall trees, this playground offers natural shade for parents and children. 🛝
Boasting plenty of picnic tables, benches and grills, Revolution Park is the ideal spot to play pickup, practice various sports and have a relaxing day with friends and family. There’s so much to do here, we couldn’t possibly cover it all in this space alone!
We mentioned that Revolution Park is historic at the very beginning of the blog. This public space was both home to one of the first desegregated golf courses, as well as Charlotte’s first integrated pools! In 2022, Barringer Drive was renamed Revolution Park Drive to honor the history of the park and more specifically the golf course. 🏌️
With a deep love for their community, the people of Revolution Park are currently working on driving more traffic to the park. Recently, the community has pooled money together to have a cool sign put into their neighborhood (see below). Their aim is to make Revolution Park a peaceful and beautiful place for everyone to live.
