Active Oval is available for permitted play every day except Friday (hours below). Otherwise, the areas are available as first-come, first-serve.

In November 2022, Plei officially expanded into our 13th market, Atlanta, Georgia! 🍑
Beyond our partnerships with private pickup facilities, we also work to have a presence at the fields found at local public parks! Piedmont Park is one of those. As part of our ongoing blog series, we will be highlighting all of our partner fields in every region where Plei has touched down. 🛬

Created way back in 1895, Piedmont Park has undergone plenty of changes throughout the last 13 decades of its existence, eventually transforming into a full-fledged park experience. With plenty of amenities catering to an evolving & diverse Atlanta community, Piedmont is without a doubt a staple in the Hollywood of the South. 📍
Piedmont Park is a hub for a number of sports, and much of the action takes place in a unique & historical section of the park. Now known as the Active Oval, this natural grass area is the former location of a historic race track for the purposes of recreational horse & buggy riding. 🏇
Boasting over 14 acres of room, the Active Oval has since been repurposed for other athletic purposes, namely softball and soccer. Two (2) 11v11 fields are what you’ll find here, with the ball fields immediately west of them. ⬅️

Just north of North Ball Field 2 is a pair of sand volleyball courts, completing a trifecta of sports that can be played at the Active Oval. 3️⃣

Although this area is no longer used for horse & buggy riding, the spirit of racing remains in the form of a running track that surrounds the entirety of the oval. 🏃♂️
Keep in mind that - due to size, fencing & turf management - softball, volleyball and soccer are the only three sports that are permitted at the Active Oval. The following sports are not permitted:
There’s a lot more to check out throughout the rest of Piedmont Park, and we’d be here all day if we covered every last inch of the park. Other notable amenities include a tennis center, basketball courts, an aquatic center, a nature conservatory (which features a number of cool gardens to check out), and much more. 🙌
