Parkfield Lake Park is where community development meets environmental conservation. 🤝

Built beside the picturesque lake with the same name, Parkfield Lake Park is an 82-acre greenspace that serves as a community hub for the Montbello neighborhood of Denver.

At this gorgeous park, you’ll find two (2) state-of-the-art synthetic turf fields that are perfect for 11v11 matches! These two full-length fields can also be separated into four (4) mini soccer fields. 🤩

These fields are some of the many incredible amenities offered at this unique park. Parkfield Lake Park was created to expand community engagement in Montbello, an area that’s historically industrial, marshy, and short of greenspaces. The city definitely pulled out all the stops when you see all the fun activities that you can do here.

Besides playing footy at Parkfield Lake Park, you can also find two (2) diamond ball fields just north of the soccer pitches where you can play baseball, softball and kickball.

Being in Denver Bronco country, you’re bound to find a space to play football. Just beside the baseball fields, you’ll see a beautiful turf gridiron that’s professionally painted and ready for use.

Looking for a spot to ball out like the Denver Nuggets? Sandwiched between the soccer fields and the parking lot, you’ll find four (4) outdoor basketball courts. Playing basketball for long periods of time can get pretty tiring. Luckily, there are benches sectioned off for you to relax on should you need a rest.

On the adventurous side of things, Parkfield Lake Park offers a skatepark for skaters of all types (minus ice skaters, of course 😅). The skatepark features ramps, drops, steps and railings, giving skaters a spot to work on tricks.

Skateboarders aren’t the only ones shown love out here, too! If you like to bike, you’ll find the Montbello Bike Skills Course conveniently placed right next to the skatepark. Each section of the course is color coded and features guidelines that indicate where to go next! Grab a friend and your bikes and challenge each other to a competition of tricks and speed.

Are you loving the racquet sports craze? Just north of the skatepark, you’ll see two (2) concrete tennis courts that are perfect for exciting singles or doubles tennis matches.

In addition to tennis, you’ll find a pickleball court at Parkfield Lake Park as well. Just south of the tennis courts and skatepark, the pickleball courts are located inside Montbello Recreation Center. The rec center also features a gymnasium, a lap pool, a cardio and weight room, an art room, locker rooms, and a kitchen. There are various programs and classes you can take here, so be sure to check out what’s available.

With a long list of amenities, this park was made for the people of this neighborhood to have communal space. Despite having built so many fun things for the people of the community, the city of Denver has done well to conserve the natural habitat and deliver a beautiful walking trail that encircles the lake.

The park is a natural wetlands area, which helps the community in a major way. Wetlands are natural sponges, so they soak up water so the surrounding area doesn’t flood. This marshy land serves as a habitat for birds and small animals, too. Denver Parks and Recreation have masterfully balanced providing a great space for community recreation with conserving the environment.
