Late August 2024 ended up being quite special for us as we arrived in a crucial region to continue our takeover of the New England pickup soccer scene: Hartford-Springfield! 🎓 This move subsequently increased the number of U.S. states that Plei has arrived in to an incredible 20! 🙌
The first facility we partnered with in the region was Farmington Sports Arena! As part of our ongoing blog series, we will be highlighting all of our partner facilities in every region where Plei has touched down. 🛬
Since then, we have also begun hosting games at Oakwood Sports Center! Keep reading to learn more about them before you head out to play. 👇

If you’re a local, you probably don’t need much of an introduction to this facility: they are one of Connecticut’s most historic indoor sports venues, having been in business since way back in the 1970s. For those that are either new to the area or live close by and somehow never heard of them, let us introduce you.
Also known as Oakwood Sports Center, the facility saw major renovations take place in the summer of 2024 to modernize its amenities, but fear not; all that rich history that has been built over the course of its lifetime has been wonderfully preserved.
The menu for the beautiful game is as versatile as it gets here. Like we mentioned, don’t forget to pack both pairs of boots, because the facility boasts a set of two (2) hard courts for futsal as well as two (2) 20,000 sq. ft. turf fields.
Both hard courts are equally-sized for games as small as 5v5 and as large as 7v7. Meanwhile, the turf fields are larger and can accommodate anything from 6v6 to 8v8. Keep in mind that all these spaces are surrounded by dasher boards, which makes more for fast-paced play.
There’s a reason they are known as Oakwood Sports Center; they offer their spaces for more than just soccer. Lacrosse, volleyball, pickleball and football are all accommodated at this facility. Heck, even basketball players are able to play and train here.
It takes way more than just being a place to play your favorite sport for a facility to last as long as Oakwood Sports Center has. For them, building and maintaining community is top priority. A key amenity that the venue offers is the Crossbar Cafe, which features a full bar with a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. As far as food is concerned, their kitchen serves a variety of snacks and appetizers.
The Crossbar Cafe is an ideal place for spectators and players alike to relax and socialize in what is a stylish and comfortable setting.
To cap it all off, the facility has a multi-purpose outdoor turf area (as seen below), which is ideal for all sorts of activities & events. Think birthday parties, relaxing social gatherings with friends & family, things of that nature.
