It’s time to become king of the footy pitch. Take to the pitch and channel your inner lion! 👑

At Lions for Hope Sports Complex, you’ll be able to showcase your footy ability in the way you are truly meant to! This top-quality, outdoor synthetic turf pitch is made for intense and unforgettable 11v11 games. Surrounded by overhead lights, you can ball out during the day, or catch a vibe at night. 🤩

Lined for both soccer and rugby, this pitch is home to a number of leagues in various sports. Beyond pickup footy, if you’re looking to test your ability there are games held here from teams competing in the Midwest Premier League, as well as the UPSL (United Premier Soccer League). Be sure to check out each league and see when they’re teams are holding tryouts!

A major part of Lions for Hope’s history is directly linked to their rugby program. Founded in 1964, the Chicago Lions set the rugby standard in the Midwest by winning countless titles and featuring international players within their ranks.

The Chicago Lions are dedicated to growing the sport of rugby locally and through grassroots youth initiatives. They look to impart a strong sense of community, responsibility and pride within all their players.

Located in the Near West Side of Chicago, Lions for Hope Sports Complex holds a lot of history and community significance. In partnership with Chicago Hope Academy, the Lions for Hope Sports Complex seeks to provide at-risk youth with the following:

  • A safe space to gather and play sports
  • Creatively, physically and mentally challenge young people
  • Provide social and emotional experiences
  • Break down barriers to positive engagement
  • Empower youth with life skills and values
  • Provide alternatives to violence and crime

Lions for Hope looks to sports programming as a potential solution to funding cuts for after school programs. Today, they have both men’s and women’s teams, while also offering youth programs like Rookie Rugby (K-3rd grade), Middle School (4th-8th), and High School (9th-12th). For more information on their outreach initiatives, be sure to check out their programs page.

This facility has hopes of expansion in the near future. In addition to their soccer/rugby field, Chicago Hope Academy’s athletic track field is also part of their complex. They hope to have a domed field that’s perfect for winter use, and a number of other amenities that would give extra space for education, activities, leisurely walks, concession stands, a viewing deck and additional spectator seating.
