Way back in July 2019, the Plei App expanded outside Florida for the first time, partnering with multiple facilities in Houston, Texas. 🚀 Since July 2019, we have been hosting pickup games at Sports Creek Houston, and we are looking forward to continuing doing so for many years to come. As part of our new blog series, we will be highlighting all of our partner facilities in every region where Plei has touched down. 🛬
HTX Sports Creek, which opened in March 2017, is simply gorgeous. The only facility in the entire country with a turf field colored blue, SC is one of the largest pickup soccer locations in all of Houston. Located east of Downtown, they feature two stunning turf fields for 6v6 and 7v7 matches, as well as two sand volleyball courts. The entirety of the blue turf measures 240 by 150 square feet. SC asks that you wear turf or indoor shoes only on their fields!
We can’t continue with this blog without first highlighting the social vibe and atmosphere here. SC runs their very own bar, so if you bring guests, they can have a good time hanging out in the social spaces right outside the fields, all while watching you make waves on the ocean-blue turf. The vibrant bar serves beer and wine, among other options. Furthermore, there are plenty of TVs in and around this space, which will be broadcasting live matches and other relevant channels.
And if you are playing, you can always join in on the fun after your pickup game. 21 and up for the bar, of course.
Sports Creek really makes pickup soccer easy. If necessary, you can rent balls, bibs, ball pumps, and even ice bags and medical kits all from the bar. Just make you return them after your game!
If you haven’t already noticed from the photos, the convenient location of Sports Creek makes for a spectacular backdrop featuring the Houston skyline. You really can’t go wrong with playing footy here if you have a thing for nice views.
All of Sports Creek’s spaces are versatile and available for a variety of other activities. You can rent out the soccer fields as well as the volleyball courts. Other sports like flag football and kickball can be played on the blue turf if you choose to rent. Their spaces can be reserved for private events ranging from birthday parties to corporate events.
Sports Creek hosts both soccer and sand volleyball leagues year-round. Registration for their Co-ed, men’s, and women’s leagues can be found on their website.
Finally, SC holds open play for both soccer and volleyball all week long (18 and older), with times varying based on whatever league games may be taking place. Participating in soccer open play is as easy as buying a wristband from the bar and heading onto the field. To learn more about the rules and structure of open play, go onto their website.
