In mid-2021, Plei expanded into its 5th region, DFW, Texas. 🤠
Beyond our partnerships with private pickup facilities, we also work to have a presence at the fields found at local public parks! Gateway Park in Fort Worth is one of those. As part of our ongoing blog series, we will be highlighting all of our partner fields in every region where Plei has touched down. 🛬

Combine spaces for multiple sports, an endless list of amenities for regular park goers and a sea of green, and you get Gateway Park as a result, located just two miles east of Downtown Fort Worth. 📍
And with over 1,000 acres to its name, it also happens to be one of the largest urban parks in the country. 🙌
We’ve got a lot to cover here, so let’s dive straight in, starting with what you are probably here to learn about: the footy details. ⚽
Gateway Park has so many soccer fields, you’d think this was primarily a soccer complex with other amenities on the side. In total, you’ll find at least eight fields; all full-size, all for 11v11.
Natural grass pitches can be found on both ends of Gateway Park: two of them on the north end, and three of them on the south end. 🌿
Meanwhile, a trio of brand-new synthetic turf fields are located immediately north of the softball fields. For Plei App purposes, this is where we will be hosting our pickup games. 📲
Like we mentioned, the fields here are regulation-size, 11-a-side fields, which set the perfect scene for experiencing the beautiful game in its most natural form: in the great outdoors, under the floodlights and with the maximum number of players allowed on both teams. 😎
On top of that, spectator seating is installed along every pitch to create the authentic footy package. 📦
One of the most attractive proposals that Gateway Park brings to the table is its commitment to providing a number of recreational facilities to cater to what is a diverse Fort Worth community, all while still preserving the beautiful and dense green areas, filled with native trees and grasses. 🍃
So, if you’re an athlete that also appreciates nature and the satisfaction of being outdoors, then you’ve found yourself quite the gold mine. 🪙
Filling up space near the central area of Gateway Park is a set of six (6) baseball/softball fields. You’ll find them nestled in between Disposal Road and Players Parkway. For spectators, bleacher seating is available besides the dugouts of each field. ⚾
Other sporting amenities at this park include a full-fledged disc golf course, several mountain biking trails and a kayak/canoe launch. 🚲🛶
Keep in mind that, due to the park’s nature of boasting seemingly endless natural green spaces, there is plenty of opportunity to hike, birdwatch or just simply enjoy the great outdoors. However you prefer to take in Mother Nature, it can be done at Gateway Park. 🤝
All of this greenery isn’t limited to just humans and native creatures, either. Dogs can get in on the action here at Fort Woof Dog Park, the city’s first ever off-leash canine playground. Opened in 2004, the park boasts five acres of fenced space just west of the softball field parking lot. 🐕🦺
