In summer 2022, Plei expanded into its 10th region, this time landing in the City of Angels: Los Angeles, California. 🎥
Beyond our partnerships with private pickup facilities, we also work to have a presence at the fields found at local public parks! Franklin D. Roosevelt Park is one of those. As part of our ongoing blog series, we will be highlighting all of our partner fields in every region where Plei has touched down. 🛬

On second thought, we probably don’t have to do much explaining; the name gives most of it away. Located just south of LA at the heart of Florence-Graham is Franklin D. Roosevelt Park, a spacious complex that boasts everything from athletic fields & courts to community facilities, a gym & and a number of other amenities.
The history doesn’t just end at the fact that it’s named after a U.S. president. Construction of the park was actually authorized by the man himself during the Great Depression in the 1930s, effectively making it one of the oldest parks in Los Angeles County.
FDR Park is - of course - still going strong to this day, or else we wouldn’t be writing this blog. Let’s dive into everything that the complex has to offer.
It’s no coincidence that the beautiful game takes the center stage at this park, although we can’t confirm nor deny whether FDR himself ever envisioned a soccer field here. Located at the north end of the park is a full-size synthetic turf pitch, setting the scene for only the most exhilarating 11v11 matches.
The shape of the turf space is quite unusual, which in turn actually makes it quite appealing and unique-looking from a bird's eye view. The good thing about this extra room is that it can be used to warm up and kick around before actually hitting the field for the real thing, so we aren’t complaining at all.
As if it couldn’t get any better: futsal, the hard court variation of grass footy, is playable here as well. Feel free to swap out those turf cleats for some flats at FDR’s Park’s very own outdoor futsal court. You’ll find it near the central east end of the park.
The sports department at FDR Park doesn’t stop at soccer, though. Immediately south of the turf pitch is the Roosevelt Skate Park, which offers all the ramps, pipes & rails that you need to spend a full day skating without getting bored.
Not too far further south of the skate park is where you’ll find the futsal court that we already highlighted. Immediately next to it, though, is a basketball court. West of that is the first of two (2) baseball/softball fields at FDR Park, with the other one located just south.
At the south end of the park, a pair of tennis courts and a competition-sized indoor swimming pool top it all off.
Or almost at least. Franklin D. Roosevelt has so many more amenities that, if we rambled on talking about all of them, we’d probably end up writing a college thesis. Check out the full list of all of the park’s offerings in the Facility Highlights section below.
