Just two days after we announced our expansion into California’s capital in April 2024, we doubled down by launching in another huge West Coast market: the San Francisco Bay Area! 🌉
We kicked off our presence in this diverse region by partnering with SFF Soccer - Mission Bay Field! We then doubled down by joining forces with The Park San Jose. As part of our ongoing blog series, we will be highlighting all of our partner facilities in every region where Plei has touched down. 🛬

COPA Soccer Training Center would surely be the outcome.
Fusing both footy and video game-esque challenges that seem like they were pulled straight out of FIFA, this innovative indoor facility is the definition of next-gen. 🎮
Located in the East Bay city of Walnut Creek, COPA STC implements technologically enhanced “Laboratory” training environments that provide players of all ages with the opportunity to generate objective data assessments about their performance and ongoing development.
Before we cover all that this futuristic soccer hotspot has to offer, let’s get to the basics first. ⏬
COPA STC offers an expansive turf area where all their pickup & drop-in action goes down. The full length of this space can be used for large 9v9 or 8v8 fixtures, but it can also be split into three (3) for smaller games of 6v6 or 5v5.
Well-lit and well-equipped, electric pickup sessions are an absolute guarantee no matter your skill level. ⚡
Also at this facility are numerous Ecore performance futsal arenas in case you feel like swapping out the turf boots for the indoors. 👟
Now that that’s out the way, let’s circle back to the amenities that make COPA Soccer Training Center the future of soccer facilities in the United States. Nine (9) different advanced measurement technologies are available at the venue.
COPA Cube
It’s exactly what the name implies: this cube-shaped turf space is an immersive experience designed to train spatial awareness, power, accuracy, speed, footwork and decision-making skills. Players stand in the center of the cube, receive passes and place them into the squares that light up around them.
Data collected in this challenge include passing accuracy & speed of play.
skills.lab Arena
The only one of its kind in North America, this room features a full 360° of digital screens and scoreboard with six (6) ball launchers and sensors to measure, replicate and train almost every aspect of the game. The arena is used for both small group and individual training sessions.
Check out this YouTube video for a more in-depth explanation of how this technology works.
SpeedTrack
This amenity consists of a 30-yard synthetic track with laser sensors staggered across the entire lane. Players that use this track can improve on their acceleration & top speed, attributes that are as necessary as ever in the modern game.
Data & results immediately pop up on a TV screen located along the track.
SpeedCourt
Players can continue developing their speed attributes at the SpeedCourt. Track and improve your processing speeds, agility, reaction time and develop efficient & effective movement skills.
Consistent with the rest of COPA STC’s training challenges, players receive immediate feedback as well as progress tracking on this hard court space.
Double SpeedCourt
This space is essentially the same thing as the previous SpeedCourt, except this time it’s on turf instead of hard court and it’s two SpeedCourts instead of one.
The Double SpeedCourt features 24 embedded sensors to ensure game-oriented training & testing, efficiently measure reactive decision making and change of direction.
Mini Cube
A miniature version of the COPA Cube for much younger ballers.
PowerBox
Located on the facility’s Ecore performance futsal arenas and 20 meters from side to side, the PowerBox features colored tiles that are designed to measure and track speed, endurance and agility.
Aerobic capacity testing, game-specific fitness training & more take place here.
Force Plate
This platform detects and measures acceleration, reaction time and thrust dispersion to help train and optimize an athlete’s vertical leap and explosive performance.
A large TV screen displays live data as you’re putting in the work.
Kids Speed Zone
Similar challenge to the previously mentioned SpeedCourts, but for younger age groups.
