What’s not to love about big sports complexes? They give you so many playing field options and their amenities are second to none. Just an hour northwest of Chi-Town, you’ll find one of the largest indoor sports facilities in the Midwest and a major destination for athletes and families in Cook County, Illinois.
Sitting at 175,000 square feet, Canlan Sports Lake Barrington is a sight to behold! Diving headfirst into the footy details, this facility boasts seven fields in total. Four (4) of those pitches are spacious turf fields that can perfectly host 7v7 matchups. 🤯
If you’re a hard court enthusiast, then you have to check out Canlan Sports Lake Barrington’s three (3) futsal courts. They’re ideal for 5v5 games and give you the option to showcase your skills in a quicker-paced game. With such an array of fields and courts for lovers of the beautiful game, you’ll never be short of choices.
And speaking of options, pickup footy is just one way to experience the beautiful game at Canlan Sports. Ballers above the age of 18 can join the Canlan’s AISL (Adult Indoor Soccer League) for their chance at winning a trophy and bragging rights! The AISL features a 7v7 Men’s Over 30 league, a 7v7 Men’s Over 45 league, a Men’s Open league, and a 7v7 Women’s league. 🏆
The adults aren’t the only ones who get a cool league acronym, either! For rising ballers looking to develop their skills and compete against other teams, Canlan Sports Lake Barrington offers the YISL (Youth Indoor Soccer League). They offer a 7v7 indoor league for players from the U9-U14 age range and a 9v9 indoor league for U13-U19 teams. 🏅
Do you recall the futsal courts we mentioned earlier? Canlan Sports Barrington also offers the Futsal League, which was designed to achieve three things: develop the skills of youth players, be fun and engaging, and give kids a high quality surface to enjoy the beautiful game. The Futsal League is split between boys and girls and features divisions ranging from U9 to U18.
The fun doesn’t stop there, however, as Canlan Sports Lake Barrington also offers Lil’ Kickers classes! These are programs that aim to provide kids ages 18 months to 9 years with the skills necessary to learn soccer and grow as individuals, all while enjoying themselves. Though Canlan Sports Lake Barrington shows a whole lotta love to soccer, they offer far more than footy pickup, leagues and programs. This sportsplex features four (4) state-of-the-art basketball courts that can be used for b-ball and pickleball, and eight (8) volleyball courts as well. At this Barrington location, Canlan Sports also hosts youth programming for volleyball, flag football and basketball.
It wouldn’t be a sportsplex without some form of physical training component meshed in with the long list of amenities. Why spend excess money on a gym membership when you can access a high-quality fitness center in the same space you play your favorite sports? And if you’re looking to join a health & wellness community, then don’t forget to inquire about their drop-in fitness classes. 🏋️

The other honorable mention would have to be K.A.R.E., which stands for Kids Academic Recreation Enrichment.
