In February 2023, Plei officially expanded into our 14th region: Detroit, Michigan. 🚗
The first facility that we partnered with was Livonia Athletic District, located west of Downtown Detroit. 🤝
Beyond our partnerships with private pickup facilities, we also work to have a presence at the fields found at local public parks! Bicentennial Park is one of those. As part of our ongoing blog series, we will be highlighting all of our partner fields in every region where Plei has touched down. 🛬

Situated in the vibrant city of Livonian, Michigan, Bicentennial Park is more than your average green space. Named after the 200th anniversary of the United States, this park blends a massive sports complex with family recreation spaces. Before we get into all the facility’s offerings, let’s first touch on the shining star of this beautiful park–the footy pitches, of course! 😅
The love that Bicentennial Park shows to soccer is no joke! You’ll find nine natural grass footy pitches across the entire facility. The best part is that these fields vary in size, so you’ll never have to sweat about finding enough players to play. For larger-sized matches, Bicentennial features four (4) 11v11 fields and one (1) 9v9 pitch. For smaller-sided games, they offer two (2) 7v7 fields, and one (1) 5v5 pitch.
Looking to locate each field? For your reference, we’ve included the official park map at the bottom of this blog. We’ve also linked it here for you, too! 🗺️
Who doesn’t like having options? And with all the footy you’ll be playing here, it’s good to know that each pitch has benches for you to relax on after the match. Also, if you like playing in soccer leagues, lookout for Livonia’s Parks & Rec facebook page, as sometimes they announce adult league registration. Assemble your best squad and compete for your chance at silverware. 🏆
With racquet sports becoming more popular than ever before, courts are sprouting up at parks all across the country. If you want to try your hand at pickleball, Bicentennial Park has six (6) courts. For the seasoned pickleball vet, you can create a round robin tournament at Bicentennial Park using the Bounce app. If you’re more of a traditionalist when it comes to racquet sports, then you can find four (4) tennis courts just north of the dog park!
We know it can be tough getting to the beach from Livonia, Michigan, but Bicentennial Park brings a slice of beach life for you to enjoy. Play sand volleyball on one of their two (2) sand volleyball courts just off of the 7-Mile Road section of the park. We swear if you bring friends, refreshing beverages and music, you won’t even notice you’re not in a tropical place! 🏐
In Detroit Tigers country, you’re bound to find major love for baseball at most parks. If baseball or softball is your game, get pumped because Bicentennial Park has nine (9)- yes, nine!-baseball diamonds sprinkled across the facility. If you’re not into either of those sports, baseball diamonds also make great kickball fields.
Bicentennial Park isn’t just for casual and experienced athletes, either. This massive park offers relaxing green spaces and communal spots for the families and friends. Just south of the tennis courts, you’ll find a dog park with plenty of open green space for your pup to run through. Dog parks are always a great place to make friends! 🐕
Massive parks can be great places to hold events, host family get-togethers or connect with friends. Bicentennial Park has a pavilion made for all of these occasions that feature picnic tables and come equipped with two metal grills. With a little something for every member of the family, this facility also offers two playgrounds.
Whether you’re a runner looking for a new route or you like going on long walks, you’ll be happy to know that Bicentennial Park has a nature pathway made specially for you. The Cathi Anderson Memorial Trails spans the entire backend of the park and is entirely covered by trees. This gives you a nice reprieve from both heat and noise, while also offering a peaceful experience in nature.
Built with your convenience in mind, Bicentennial Park has restrooms and plenty of parking. Each ball field and court has a nearby parking lot! You can trek through the park if you’d like, of course, but it’s not necessary! 🅿️
