Life can get pretty busy sometimes, don’t you think? Choosing where to exercise and have fun can take up a lot of your time, but having a high-quality facility like Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center around means you only need to go to one place for all your recreational needs!
Before giving you the low down about all the insane amenities that make Ackerman SFC the go-to fitness destination in Dupont County, we have to share the most important part of this facility first. 😏 Ackerman shows major love to the beautiful game by offering one (1) top-class indoor footy pitch perfect for 7v7 and 8v8 matches. With 40ft high ceilings, you can easily tap into your inner Kevin De Bruyne and ping passes across the pitch without worry of hitting the roof.
If it’s one thing Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center does, it’s spoil you for choice. In addition to indoor footy space, you can also head outdoors and find one (1) state-of-the-art outdoor turf field large enough to host unforgettable 11v11 matches. If you don’t have enough players for a full-sized game, the lines are already present for you to use half the field for 8v8 matchups. ⚽
Just beside this field, you’ll see one (1) natural grass field perfectly suited for a 7v7 match. You’ll be happy to know that all of these fields have overhead lights, making night games a definite possibility. But wait, footy fans, there’s more…
Surrounding the backside of Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center, there are four (4) more 7v7 grass fields and two (2) more 11v11 fields. That means you have a grand total of nine pitches to choose from! You’ll never have to worry about a lack of field space to play your favorite sport ever again. 🤯
Ackerman SFC, alongside Akerman Park, are vital to the footy community in Glen Ellyn, especially for youth soccer. That’s why Glen Ellyn Park District offers many leagues and programs for youth players that use their footy pitches as their home fields. From clinics and programs to leagues and travel teams, you can find registration forms for all related activities on Glen Ellyn Park District’s activity search. Be sure to use the search bar along with the event filters to find the exact programs you’re looking for.
Footy pitches aren’t the only fields that Ackerman SFC offers. Just south of the turf field, you’ll find six (6) baseball diamonds with overhead lights that are perfect for baseball, softball and kickball games! In addition to outdoor baseball fields, Ackerman also offers indoor batting cages so you can take your hitting technique to the next level.
Who says you can’t experience beach vibes in the Midwest? If you daydream about running your feet through the sand, Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center makes those dreams come true by offering one (1) beach volleyball court for your enjoyment! Keep in mind, permits are needed to access their outdoor fields, so be sure to visit their rentals page for more details. 🏐
If you’re a hooper, you’ll be excited to learn that Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center features one (3) full-size basketball courts with plenty of hoops for your enjoyment. Playing on a high-quality court like this can make anyone feel like a pro baller. Luckily, you can take your talents to Ackerman SFC and sign up for their adult basketball league. This league features an 8-game regular season that leads into a single elimination postseason tournament. 🏀
Scoring a membership at Ackerman SFC means you also get access to a top-quality fitness center. The center is filled with cardio and strength training equipment, as well as free weights. If group fitness classes are more your thing, Ackerman offers fitness programs for you to take advantage of, some of which are held in their fitness studios and training rooms. With an elevated track surrounding the basketball courts, you’ll always have a diverse way to stay fit away from the outdoors elements.

Health and wellness isn’t all about playing sports and going to the gym. Going out into nature can play a big role and keeping fit physically and mentally, too. Ackerman SFC boasts the Ackerman Woods natural area by the entrance towards Parkview Church, a 1.4 miles limestone path surrounding the complex, and a connection to the Great Western Trail! 🚶
For the little ones, there’s a playground between Ackerman SFC and the sports fields on the east side of the complex. Parents will be thrilled to know that this playground is partially covered and has detached restrooms directly next door. Bike racks, picnic tables and benches round out a jaw-dropping list of amazing facility features.
Like any great facility, public or private, the space is available for event bookings. Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center often receives bookings for birthday parties, team practices, clinics, private development and personal training sessions. Check out their rentals page for additional information on what spaces you can rent along with their hourly costs.
