This is the closest you’ll get to balling out in the clouds in Chi-Town. The city’s first-ever rooftop soccer venue is none other than Skyline Pitch, a one-of-a-kind experience that doesn’t come around too often.
Thankfully, nobody is stopping you from visiting multiple times a week if you’re a Chicago native. This Lincoln Park facility features a dual-field setup with one futsal court and one synthetic turf field, offering the best of both footy worlds.
Both courts here are equally-sized and best suited for fast-paced 5-a-side, so the only decision you’ll have to make is what surface you prefer to play on. Once that’s out of the way, all that’s left to do is indulge in that Chicago skyline backdrop that makes Skyline Pitch one of the most appealing pickup soccer destinations in not only the city, but the entire country.
Believe it or not, the incredible vistas aren’t the only attraction. Skyline Pitch is located on and takes up most of the space of the 7th level of the NEWCITY Lifestyle & Entertainment District parking garage, so they didn’t stop at just their two footy courts. The facility also provides other forms of entertainment. namely a Panna Cage for exhilarating 1v1 duels.
To further maintain competitive atmosphere, there’s a Focus 360 installed here - which is a sort of turf-enclosed space that tests passing speed as well as precision - and a soccer tennis court.
If you’re familiar with Teqball tables, they’ve got a pair of those on-site as well.
All these extra amenities naturally certifies Skyline Pitch as an elite choice for the most electric, high-energy events throughout the entire region. This blueprint - which also features a lounge area with umbrella-installed picnic tables as well as a rotating menu of Chicago’s most popular food trucks - was far from unintentional, though.
With the goal to bring together soccer, community and the city of Chicago, Skyline Pitch opens up their venue for all kinds of private events, and even hosts their own fair share of special occasions.
From November to March, they give their facility a holiday facelift, transforming one of their courts into an ice-skating rink and decking out the entire venue in Christmas decorations. Check it out below.
The joy doesn’t magically disappear just because winter does. When regular soccer activity comes back into play in the spring, the facility hosts some attractive programming, including training programs, pick-up games, leagues, tournaments, yoga and special partner events.
For those that got this far and plan on visiting Skyline Pitch, we’ll leave you with a pro tip. The facility provides parking validation at a discounted rate; just be sure to drive all the way up to the top floor.
