Congrats to these players and the many others that put in work every month in our growing regions! We see you! 🥳
There arguably isn’t a better way to respond to your 3-time champion status being overtaken than to do what our October champion has just done. 😳
It all started back in July 2022 when we released our second-ever POTM leaderboard. This particular player was just a newcomer; he had only joined just over a week into May. That month saw Plei App legend Michael J secure 1st place in the inaugural edition of our Players of the Month. By the time June ended, our newcomer was already starting to feel like a veteran. Having played 25 times, he was now a champion. 👑
July came around, and he wasn’t done yet. He managed 24 games to once again top the leaderboards. At this point, he was solidified as the only player to win first place more than once, and he’d done it across the first three editions of the leaderboard. 😅
He would fall short the following two months, paving the way for three new ballers to make it to the top. Redemption came in the form of a third ring, though, breaking the previous standing record of 26 games by playing 29 times in October. Nobody could touch him. ❌
Unfortunately, this would be the last we’d see of this player for quite a while. 😢
A hand injury ruled him out for some time, so he could no longer compete for gold. The next few months were all about recovery, with the goal of one day returning to the pitch to retake his throne. Since his October 2022 victory, we crowned 9 new champions, one of which was Ty S, who as we know, took over the leaderboards upon his arrival. But a month before the South Floridian baller achieved the first of his now four gold medals, our previous three-time champ made an exciting return, managing 18 games in the month of April to place 12th. 🔙
As you can probably tell, the narrative couldn’t be any better. Exactly a year on from when he made history by securing his third-ever POTM victory, none other than Michael G has made his long-awaited return to the summit! We gave him the nickname ‘Michael Myers’ last October after he broke the previous-standing record of 26 games played by playing 29 times. Since then, the bar has been raised significantly; the average games played of all our winners in 2023 so far (excluding October) is 32! 😲
Michael has done the impossible again, playing FORTY-SEVEN TIMES across 31 days to tie things up with Ty. It’s official: we have our very own Messi-Ronaldo Ballon d’Or-esque competition here. 🐐🐐
We’re do we go from here? We’re not sure what’s to come, but we know that there is little stopping both Michael and Ty from trading victories over the course of their Plei App careers. ⚔️
Congratulations to Michael, and welcome back, champ! 🧤
We have three other players on the October podium… one in third place and a tie between two players for third place! 🤝
We’ll start with a leaderboard debutant in 2nd place, Salman D! With an incredible 32-game performance, the Chadian baller from South Florida was not messing about. He has fully earned his 2 free game credits and 2 free shirts. We hope you enjoy your prize, Salman, and we hope to see more of you in the future! 🔥
Wow… these next two ballers could not be separated in October! 🤯
Harrinson T is back! If you read our August blog, you may recall that this Los Angeles baller marked his debut that month with a solid 21 games played. He dropped out in September, but he’s back and better than ever in October! Harrison achieves a new personal best of 29 games as well as a new highest placement of 3rd place, earning himself his very first medal! We won’t be surprised to see him secure silver or even gold soon. 😅
Taking the second bronze medal is another Top 15 debutant: Aj M from Jordan, who plays his ball in our Houston region! His spectacular efforts saw him put up 29 games to mark a dream debut showing. Congrats, Aj! 🥉
Another familiar face makes a return… Jose F finishes in 5th place! He missed out on the September leaderboard but he’s back with a strong 26-game performance, which is actually just one short of his current personal best. Recall that his highest placement is 2nd place, which he first achieved in August. Will he land gold one day? 🥇👀
He’s done it!Last month we highlighted Sergio S and how he nearly matched his previous personal best. Well, we’re happy to announce that he’s gone and broke it in October! The Venezuelanplayed 25 times to set a new personal record to finish in 6th place. Now that he’s managed that feat, it might be time for him to set his sights on the podium, a feat he’s yet to achieve! 👀
We mentioned his name already, but we didn’t actually highlight him yet! 4-time champ and September winner Ty S finds himself in 7th following a 22-game performance. He may have slowed down a bit following his record-breaking feat last month, but he’s played as many as 40 games in a single month before, so there’s no doubt that he’ll be back at the top soon. 🔝
Two more Top 15 debutants take up our next two spots on the leaderboard! Congrats goes out to Mario M and Mo C, who both ball out with the Plei App in Houston. These two managed to play 22 games each, with Mario edging out Mo to take 8th place based on the all-time games played tiebreaker. Good stuff, guys! 🚀
Coming in 10th place is Angie C, who makes it 6 consecutive appearances in the Top 15 this year! A reminder that she only made her leaderboard debut in May, so she is on a hot streak right now! Her current personal best is 27 games, and her highest ever placement is 3rd place, which she achieved this past July. Keeping Houston on the map! 🚀
From 11th to 15th place, we have even more debutants! Congrats to Wilfredo F (USA/Houston), Jeremy G (France/South Florida), Leandro P (Cuba/South Florida), Angel 💎 (Mexico/Houston) and Asher G (India/Dallas). We hope to see more of them in the coming months! 🤩
We love to highlight the growing diversity of the Plei App community. A total of 29 different countries filled up our Top 100 in October, with 8 of those countries being represented in the Top 15. Overall, 112+ unique nationalities represented the entire Plei App this past month. The “Beautiful Game” in the flesh! ♥️
We want to remind everyone that all players who make it into our monthly top 100 earn a free Plei App shirt! 🆓
🚨REMINDER 🚨: Throughout 2023, we are not using one consistently updated link where you would all normally keep track of your leaderboard progress. Instead, a new link is provided each month. 📆
