February '23 Players of the Month

🥰 During the month of love, we saw plenty of love for the beautiful game! 🥰 

For the second time in Plei App leaderboard history, we have not one, but two champions! 🥇 

It got really competitive during February, so we had no choice but to modify our final POTM standings and give credit where credit is due. That being said, our February 1st place finishers, ending the month tied on 23 games played, are Ana H and Moe M! 🎉

It’s a special month not only because we have two winners, but also because Ana makes Plei App history by becoming our first ever female champion! To add onto this achievement, we also saw Claire M finish in 3rd place with 22 games played. 🙌 

Our modified Top 15 placements also mean that we do not have any silver medals to give out; following Ana and Moe we have two more 3rd place finishers who both tied with Claire’s 22 games played. Congratulations to Oscar A and Melchior V, they have rightfully earned their bronze medals for February as well! 🥉

Following 3rd place, we jump straight to 6th, where Jose F, who plays his footy in both Houston and Dallas, has earned his spot with 21 games played. Along with Najib K, who finished in 10th with 19 games to his name in February, are the only users in the Top 15 that are not from South Florida. Texas represent! 🤠🚀 

Tyler J, like Jose, also played 21 games, but tiebreaker rules put him at 7th place. 👏 We want to applaud Tyler because he is a new Plei App user, who only joined on February 5, and went hard for the rest of his debut month to earn his spot. Welcome to the family and we’re delighted that you have enjoyed the Plei App so much already! 💯

Mr. Inevitable, Michael J, does it again. He comes in at 8th place with 20 games played in February, adding to his POTM appearance tally. We would like to remind everyone that since Michael topped our first ever player leaderboards back in May 2022, he has gone on to appear in every single monthly Top 15, something no other Plei App user has done. 🐐 

He has plenty of competition, though. Rakin S, a veteran user who has been playing pickup soccer games with us since February 2019, celebrated 4 years on the Plei App in style, playing 20 games and landing in 9th place. He placed 7th in January, so expect to continue seeing more of Rakin throughout the rest of 2023. 🌟 

Arguably the biggest name in Plei App POTM history finally makes his long-awaited return to the Top 15! A 3-time champion, he holds the most POTM titles since May inception. It’s a record that looks like it will hold for at least months to come, as we do not have a two-time champ! This man went back to back in June and July, and secured his 3rd gold medal in October with an insane 29 games played (the Plei App record for most games played in a single month), before suffering an unfortunate hand injury which kept him out of action for the rest of the year. 🤕 He had also appeared in every Top 15 from June through October. 

Of course, we are talking about none other than Michael G! The South Florida baller made a light cameo in January’s Top 100, playing 11 games to place 80th in his return from injury. Now in February, he was back to his old self, playing 16 times to finish 14th! It’s truly a special story that could have only been told thanks to Michael’s efforts and love for the beautiful game and the Plei App! ⚽❤️

We want to shout out the other 4 players that made our Top 15: Sergio S (11th),  Jorge M (12th), Christopher K (13th) & Nathan V (15th)! 🙌

Since we have a modified leaderboard for February with two 1st place finishers and three players tying for 3rd place, we technically don’t have official 2nd, 4th or 5th placements. However, we want to make it clear that regardless of the modifications made to the placements of the players in our Top 15, prizes given would still be the same.

Ana H and Moe M will both receive the 1st place prize of 3 free Plei App dry fits plus 3 free game credits. Meanwhile, 3rd place finishers Oscar A, Claire M and Melchior V will receive their corresponding prize of 2 free game credits and 2 free shirts. 🏆

We love to highlight the growing diversity of the Plei App community. A total of 30 different countries filled up our top 100 in February, with 11 of those countries being represented in the top 15. Overall, 130+ unique nationalities represented the entire Plei App this past month. The “Beautiful Game” in the flesh!

We want to remind everyone that all players who make it into our monthly top 100 earn a free Plei App shirt!

Plei App Players of the Month

Every month, we will be celebrating our Top 15 players based on games played:

• 4th through 15th placed players will receive 1 free game credit and 1 free shirt
• 2nd and 3rd placed players will receive 2 free game credits and 2 free shirts
• The #1 player of the month will receive 3 free Plei App dry fits to wear at the games plus 3 free game credits

Overall, our Top 15 players played a total of 297 times between them in February. And our Top 100 players of the month played a total of 1,277 times!

If you didn’t have a Valentine this month, don’t worry, because you chose the beautiful game instead! ⚽😍
